You find almost everything there: Lush green coconut plantations, beautiful beaches,mesmerizing cruises in backwaters. What if you find everything in the same trip? Poovar island cruise was one such experiences here you can have it all.
It is a river cruise on the river Neyyar and covers mangrove forests, coconut plantations, small islands, golden sand beach.
How to reach:
Only by road. It is 85 kms from Kanyakumari and 32 from Trivandrum (nearest airport).
Charges :
Tours are operated by many private companies and charges depend on the one you choose. For many companies it may start from 3000/2hrs. It is charge per boat rather than person.
Weather : Usually sultry. While you go through the forests it feels pleasant.
Food: Once you enter water, you don’t get anything immediately. You can find snacks on Golden sand resort and proper meal at many floating restaurants there.
Stay: There are few resorts with either water villas or water facing rooms and appeared real beautiful.

- Use comfortable clothing.
- Sunscreen is must.
- Try sea food at floating restaurants
- Do some online research before hand. I saw few sites offering almost 50% discount if you book in advance.
